Moderator's Note: Please, for the sake of preventing argument, do not post false pictures in this thread, IE: Photoshopped pictures that remove or obscure your identity, Pictures of people other than you and your families, or any other such unrelated pictures. This is a thread to show people what the various members of the forum look like in real life, a thread has been created for other pictures to be used at your discretion. Hopefully, this will circumvent any drama.
You all know you want one, so I give you one. An Illusionaria picture thread. Please, despite the temptation, no illusions in your pics.
Our small 'family' might as well get to know our nerdiness, yes? Or is it geekiness? Illusionary, you the expert, you correct me.
Anyways, I open up with this!
I've done it. 18 out of 64 pics have been resized for your viewing pleasure.
What we did was this. For my local Wildlife Hospital, they were planning to move to a new location nearby, and needed cages. So we built them. These cages are modular, meaning they can be taken apart into panel pieces, stored, and put back together later on. We had already built the panels themselves by the time of these photos, and I don't think I have any pics of the building of the panels. But these are all the final assembly of one of two aluminum cages built.
First, we had to lay the roof and one wall panel together in a triangle, so we could drill the holes for the bolts. And then we did the same thing again, though this time with the roof and the OTHER wall panel. I'm of course a little worried the whole time.
Next we bolted together the roof and one wall panel, and then lifted that while we moved the other wall panel into place to form The cage framework minus the two end panels. Those we added next, having one guy inside the cage with the nuts while we lined up the hole and then Slipped the bolt in.
Still working on the door panel. And then I Got to tighten the last bolt. Here's a pretty good shot of me in my uniform.
When we finished we went in the cage with the donation sign in my hand and celebrated by acting like fools.
This picture has been featured in our local newspapers including the Stuart News and Palm Beach Post. In the newspaper though the shot is at a different angle, and one of the kids is hiding behind another one. Then we put the donation sign up on the cage with zip ties. Right above the door.
I also got to take a picture with an eagle. How cool is that?
I think it wanted to peck me, though.
Didn't care much about my little sister, though she seemed scared of it.
I'm on my way to eagle!
