What you guys said.
But good and evil is mostly just a matter of perspective.

I disagree entirely. Not that it'll mean anything to you, since you'll think that's just my perspective.

Well, you know, that's just like, your perspective.

But I feel that simple characters are better secondary (I think complex character make awesome secondary, too). What I mean is, I don't think simple characters make good main characters. You get bored of characters that see the world too black and white, particularly if they're the one you read about most, although a host of complex secondary characters can make a simple character interesting as they question and shape them. This is true. As simple characters are good for providing some relief from the turmoil of other characters' minds, they fit perfectly as secondary or tertiary characters. Not to say that they couldn't be primary characters, but it would take a very skilled author to pull that off well.

Back to the good v. evil perspective thing: Yeah. they're both built on perspective. But there are things generally agreed upon throughout the western world (hell, the eastern world too) that are undeniably evil, like rape, murder, genocide, etc. Since the most people share that perspective, it's pretty safe to say that those things are evil. It's especially easy to write about such things in this manner, because it's easy to guess what's right and wrong to the target audience.
I also just typed this whole post with one hand.

Eh, it's sort of an accomplishment for me. Turns out I even make less mistakes when I do.

The Da Vinci Code, Prince and the Pauper, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Sophie's World, and Lord of the Flies. Hmm... I seem to only recall the books I read in the past month or two. I really have to read more

Anything by Stephen King is good. At least in my opinion. Although I don't think they're as scary as everybody makes out, but still a good read nonetheless.

Yeah, I bought one of King's short story collections, 'Just After Sunset' a while back. They even animated one of the longer stories to uhh... damn what's the word? Help market it? God damn, I hate mornings.
Anyways, google "Stephen King's 'N'" or something like that. It's a really great story.
