I know a lot of the people on Illusionaria are budding writers, so I took it upon myself as Lord and Master of Competitions to create a short story competition!
RULES: Each contestant will write a story, on any subject they like. The recommended maximum length for a story is 2000-3000. Only one story per contestant.
This competition will be open until JANUARY 1ST 2009
JUDGING: *There will be 25 points possible to score, split up into 5 categories that are worth 5 points each*
1. Originality- What makes the author's story different and unique? 2. Plot- Does the plot interest the reader? Does it stay on track? 3. Content- How well does the author keep the reader interested? 4. Flow- Is the story organized? Does it jump around nonsensically? 5. Conclusion- Does the story have an awesome ending, or is it one of those awkward endings that are rushed?

I don't want to sound intruding, but I DO have some suggestions. If this is going to last for a long time, I would expand the word limit. 1000 words is hardly a story. I definitely want to take part in this, but if I were I would expand the word limit. *shrug*

Yes, more words please. 1000 words is more of an essay to me, I really want to get a crack at my story. Which, as is my style, will be absolutely insane. ;D

Yeah, I tend to post larger works myself. 1000 is cake for me.

I dunno... Just eyeball our stories and see if they're too long, I can't really think of a set limit...

Actually yeah that might be a better idea.
All agreed?

Actually yeah that might be a better idea. Which one, Web's or mine? I don't care either way, I'm just happy you're starting a competition that deals with writing.

What if we did a recommended limit of 2000-3000 words, just so that nobody goes too overboard and ends up flogging the judges? That should be more than enough room, don't you think?
And I agree Red, this sounds like a good competition.

Nova speaks with knowledge that we should all heed. Wise he is, stupid he is not.

I honestly don't know because it will take people a long time to write a story. Though don't forget you can send in things you have written in the past if you want!
