Characters: Must be approved by creator Content Rating: Adult Genre: Adventure/Action March of the Onyx Crusade Naga av Magnus.Vanus pondered the words thoughtfully to himself. There was, he supposed, a certain eloquence to the name that would have been otherwise lacking in its Cyrodiilic translation. Still...there had been a time – another lifetime – when he’d considered the Ayleid language beneath his concern: a relic of a feeble and utterly inferior race. Even now, part of him wondered if by using their lexicon, part of that weakness would somehow taint him... He quickly pushed the thought aside. He was beyond such concerns. And if the creation of those pitiful creatures, so long ago crushed beneath a much worthier race, could be useful to him in any way, then he would use it as he would any other tool... As if sensing those very thoughts, a pair of deceptively sinuous hands laid themselves upon Vanus’ armoured shoulders, pressing down lightly. A sudden cord of ecstasy wound its way down his spine, as a pair of supple lips gently brushed against the back of his neck. A mild grin broke out across Vanus’ once fair features. “Lilith,” he said simply, addressing the would-be woman behind him. He remained seated, in control, even as waves of pleasure wracked through his body. “May I assume that all went according to plan?” Against his neck, he felt her lips curve into a wicked smile. “Yes, my Lord...” she whispered back delightedly. “It was as simple as you predicted...the mortals of Tamriel will not interfere.” Vanus suppressed a chuckle. Dear Lilith, he thought silently. So like you to underestimate your opponents... He had no doubt that the mortals of Tamriel would make their presence known. His machinations were merely in place to make them more manageable. But, there was no need to concern a subordinate with such information. “There is one more thing, my Sovereign,” Lilith uttered in his ear. “Another group of ‘initiates,’ awaiting your blessing.” Vanus rose from his seat, nodding with approval. “Very well,” he replied, making to leave the Imperial Palace...or rather, the pathetic mock-up of it he now inhabited. Heavy, looming shadows surrounded him like a physical entity, while ragged and bloodstained tapestries adorned nearly every wall. Molag Bal, Vanus thought sourly. A fool as well as a terrible decorator.Together, both he and Lilith left the main chamber of the grand spire, making their way to a nearby room he’d appropriated for this specific purpose. Inside, he found a large group of Daedra: Dremora, Golden Saints, Xivilai, even a handful of atronachs. Collectively, they turned towards him, and he noted the expectant expressions on some of their faces. How ironic that Daedra, supposedly immortal, infallible, should turn to a man, once mortal, for leadership. “You stand before your Lord Vanion!” Lilith announced to the other Daedra present, the Daedra Seducer’s membranous wings twitching with anticipation. “Kneel before him, and receive his blessing.” After a moment’s hesitation, the group did just that: gradually, each of the Daedra fell down to their knees, heads bowed down. Vanus Orion, made Lord Vanion, looked over the group for a moment before extending a single hand. A blade, wrought of shadow and air, materialized in his hand...the very same he had used to slay both Molag Bal, and Mehrunes Dagon after him. Naga av Magnus, he thought to himself. Without uttering a single word, Vanion raised his blade, then struck out at the seemingly empty space before him. ____________________________ ____________________________ The year is now 4E 07, and for the past seven years Tamriel has enjoyed a tenuous peace. Under the leadership of Supreme Chancellor Ocato, the Empire has managed to remain relatively intact. The Imperial Legion has been rebuilding since the Oblivion Crisis, the provinces have very nearly fully recovered, and the life of the average citizen has returned to a relative state of normality. Recently, however, there have been odd reports throughout Tamriel. Previously reclusive Daedra worshippers have begun to spread word of some foul abomination infesting the very heart of Oblivion, claiming that some of the Daedric Princes themselves have been slain. Of course, Daedra worshippers are known for being unreliable at best: their cries have gone relatively unnoticed by the public at large. What is concerning, however, are reports of large groups of Daedra congregating together around the continent. Previously unconnected species, such as Dremora and the Aureal, have been placed together at various sites throughout Tamriel...and yet extensive searches have revealed no signs of anything resembling Oblivion Gates. Furthermore, there have been no reported attacks on any settlements whatsoever... Wishing to diffuse the situation before another Oblvion Crisis sweeps over the land, Chancellor Ocato has sent word to many various individuals, asking for their help in investigating these sightings, and determining just what exactly is happening within the ranks of the Daedra... (This is where you come in. You don’t necessarily have to be a great adventurer to be contacted by Ocato...just have some kind of skill that a group might find useful on what appears to be a quick and easy mission.) _____________________________ _____________________________ The Rules:-Wait for character approval from me -Thou shall not über! -Werewolves and vampires are allowed (Way to be progressive, Ocato!) I trust each of you to roleplay one of these creatures responsibly, should you choose to -No character control -Character subplots and romances are not only allowed, but encouraged (let’s keep it classy, guys and gals) -No one liners -No essays (People have been discussing the tediousness of super long posts recently. Basically, if when it’s posted, you can see the whole thing on your screen, that’s fine.) -If you have questions, ask them! -Have a good time! (That is the point after all, isn’t it?) Absent CharactersAlright, let’s all be perfectly honest with each other here. We’ve all been in roleplays where the sudden and unexpected absence of one character brings the whole thing to a grinding halt. Otherwise known as ‘locking,’ most roleplayers have been guilty of this crime at one time or another (including myself). But this isn’t about blame. This is about trying to avoid this problem. If one particular character’s lack of progress is holding up the group for whatever reason, I’ll wait for three days for said person to make a post. At that point, I’ll send that person a PM, asking (politely; I know that sometimes real life issues come first!) if you could make even a minor post, just to get things moving. If you do not reply to said PM within two days, or are unable to post for whatever reason, I will temporarily take control of your character to get the roleplay moving again. The degree to which I will control characters in this position will be minimal: again, this isn’t meant to be a malicious kind of thing. It’s not a punishment. I won’t get mad at anybody for not posting (well, maybe I will, but that’s okay). Oh, I’ll also be making the determination of when a character technically starts ‘holding up the group.’ So, in summary of the rules...-I’m the King. What I say, goes. -You have no rights (Well, that’s not technically true...) -Play nice. Note: First post reserved.

OOC: Alright, here we go, then. I realize my post is a bit longer than it should be, but it's a one time occurence. I had to make both a post for my own character, and a general post to describe the group's meeting area.
Have fun. ___________ ___________
IC: "I do wish that you would take this assignment seriously, Selene."
Selene silently rolled her eyes as both she and the elderly priest accompanying her continued on towards the great spire that was the Imperial Palace. The sky overhead was an unblemished slate of steadily darkening grey, just barely tinged with a dark azure: a sure sign that rain was on its way.
"Are you saying you don't trust me to handle myself in front of the Chancellor?" Selene countered playfully. "I'm hurt..."
The priest sighed with exasperation. "Sometimes I wonder if seeing Akatosh himself would be enough to humble you, girl. If the priests of the Priory didn't trust you, then you wouldn't be going on this mission." He turned a serious eye towards the young Paladin. "But we wish to maintain good relations with Ocato and the rest of the Elder Council. Please, do try to act accordingly, Selene..."
As the two of them neared the grounds outside the Imperial Palace, Selene regarded the elderly priest with bright, cheerful smile that seemed rather out of place coming from a trained warrior. "Don't worry so much," she assured the priest, patting him comfortingly on the shoulder. "I've got the situation under control!" And with that, she darted off, making her way briskly towards the White Gold Tower.
The priest watched in a moment of silence as she bounded happily off, before shaking his head. "Talos help us all if that girl mucks this up..."

Force Commander Seraphin Callius kept a steady eye on his Legionnaires, as they continued to prepare the 'waiting room' he'd designated for Chancellor Ocato's...guests. Silently, he shook his head in contempt as he watched a pair of his men setting out a wide assortment of refreshments across a table. They've got my soldiers catering to these vagabonds, now... he thought scathingly.
"Commander?" came a feminine voice from behind him. He turned around to see Ocato's aid, a young Breton named Claire, approach him. "Commander, I was under the impression that Ocato wanted to meet the, ah, adventurers, personally."
"And so he will," Seraphin replied casually. "But I'll not have them using the Imperial Council Chamber as a waiting area. We'll have them gather here, and take them to the Chancellor once the majority have arrived." He turned towards the door to the relatively small room as it opened. "Speaking of which..."
One of his men suddenly entered the room, escorting a young woman in matte black armour. Seraphin himself, in his blood red Legionnaire cuirass, strode forwards, towards the cheery looking warrior.
"Name," he demanded simply.
She gazed back silently at him for a moment, before complying with his request. "Selene Artemis," she replied. "With the-"
"Knights of the Nine. Yes, I can see that, thank you," Seraphin muttered back, consulting his list of expected adventurers. "You can take a seat, Miss Artemis."
He turned his attention towards one of his nearby men, attending to the refreshment table. "You there! Stop what you're doing, and deliver a message to the men outside the tower. Our honoured guests are to be escorted directly here, and report to me as soon as they arrive. Understood?"
"Yes, Commnader!" the soldier barked back, before rushing off to spread the word.
Seraphin rubbed the bridge of his nose in irritation. "Let's get this gong show over with..."

Bianca threw a real fit about me coming here. Hope she'll be able to cook her own dinners again. Roberto Malinus smiled to himself, gazing over the Imperial City from the battlements of the Arcane University. The aged Breton was actually only sixty, but stresses of battle and magic had worn his features greatly. But the resilience of the Lord ran through his veins, mixed with the elven blood of his ancestry, and this old man was far from incapable.
Sworn to serve, until death. The man ran his hand over the emblazoned golden threaded Imperial Dragon on his chest, fingers brushing the soft oceanic blue cloth. And so I must answer Ocato's call, as death has yet to beckon, and the Empire is in need.
It was for this very reason that the man had come to the Imperial city, and just a short time later, walked towards the Palace at the city's center. That tall spire had been a symbol of power and pride for himself and his comrades, a reminder of who they served and why. Majestic, inspiring, and stark white against the rain-brewing skies. Malinus frowned, lowering his head so that his straw farming hat would cover his face from the possible rainfall. Bad omen, rain before a quest.
There were legionaires standing before the Palace entrance, which made the wizard pause. Since when did the Palace guard get replaced with the Legion? Budgets must indeed be tight. The battlemage grinned as he approached, plain oaken staff tapping the ground and signaling his approach to the men.
"Roberto Malinus, retired Battlemage of the 250th division stationed in Arenthia, Valenwood." The elder rattled off without a hitch, a practiced recital. He did not, however, salute the man upon reporting. The legionaire was a simple soldier, and he could deduce this from the standard issue plate mail, fresh looking face, and the stature of the man. He was not a superior, or equal.
And apparently he was not trained in etiquette either, as the man simply nodded (or looked him over, it was hard to tell) and directed the man to follow. Malinus removed his hat, letting it hang from his neck by a leather thong, and obeyed. It was a simple trip, taking him through the halls and into a small room with a table adorned with refreshments.
His dulled hazel eyes scanned the room, finding two people NOT of standard Legionaire fodder. One, a woman in matte black armor, and the other a tall, commanding presence in deep blood red armor. Malinus approached with the proper seriousness of a soldier reporting for duty, planting his staff to the left of his feet firmly and procuring a crisp salute that touched the tips of his eyebrows.
"Roberto Malinus, retired Battlemage of the 250th Division stationed in Arenthia, Valenwood, reporting for duty, sir!" The recital was proclaimed with a powerful bark that might have been unexpected from such a man, but the hint of a grin that followed revealed this was simply infusing youth into the old bones. It's good to be back.

Slithering his way through the crowds like the Serpent he was born under, Wilfric cut his way through the throng of sheep, aiming towards the great, gleaming spire that was the White Gold Tower. There, he would find the next of his investments... if one could really call it that.
Sallow lips pulled back from slightly yellowed teeth in a grimace, as Wilfric reminded himself just what this trip truly was: Babysitting. The almighty Chancellor had apparently decided that the mighty group of adventurers getting by on the strength of their blades and armor rather than their wits needed a bit of assistance in making it through this little jaunt alive... Though Wilfric tended to agree on that part.
Still, why did he have to be the one to trudge around Cyrodiil, praying to every Divine and Daedra in existence that the adventurers would finish their jaunt soon? He was a nobleman, a businessman, not some common sword swinger!
With a 'Hmph!' of disdain, Wilfric swirled his bright azure cloak around him as he climbed the steps to the Tower, straightening his spine. Well, while he was here he could at least try and make an impression on the Council. Who knew? If he made himself influential enough and earned a dash of fame and glory while on this 'adventure' prancing about Cyrodiil, he may end up on the Council himself!
"Wilfric Cynn Salazar, here at the command of Chancellor Ocato." Wilfric spat brusquely at the Legionnaires guarding the door to the Tower. Unlike the battlemage that had come through earlier, Wilfric was not at all surprised to see the Legion there... Though the Chancellor and the Council were oh so very righteous and upstanding, they were very poor when it came to handling their money. All the more reason to end up on the Council.
Giving the pair of soldiers a withering look, the nobleman set a gloved hand on one hip, tapping his boots irritably. "Come come, do hurry. I assure you, I can think of MANY things I would be rather doing than standing here in front of you lot." He hissed, as the guards looked over a parchment scroll in front of them.
"This way..." One of them mumbled at last, leading Wilfric into the corridors.
"About time..." He mumbled, trailing along in blessed silence until they reached a great door. The guard gestured at the door and promptly left, much to Wilfric's glee. Excellent, he didn't want the soldier around anyway.
His heart sank as he opened the door and was greeted with a woman in black armor, an old man dressed in gleaming battlemage armor, and a tall warrior dressed in fiery red armor. Oh no, the tin can brigade (Not that they have tin cans... Do they? o.O) was already forming.
"Wilfric Cinn Salazar, as requested..." He hissed, determinedly looking everywhere but at the adventurers.

"Roberto Malinus, retired Battlemage of the 250th Division stationed in Arenthia, Valenwood, reporting for duty, sir!"
Seraphin offered a slight nod of respect to the elderly Breton, the lips of the Imperial's fair, pale features curving upwards in a nigh imperceptible smile of approval. Raising himself to his full impressive height, he offered the battlemage a proper salute in return, his sleek, jet black hair dangling to his shoulders.
"Force Commander Seraphin Callius, Imperial Legion Special Forces." Seraphin eased back into a more casual posture, or at least what could have been considered casual for him, and again offered a slight nod towards the second adventurer to arrive. "Glad to have you here, Malinus," he explained, his dark blue eyes fixed steadily on the mage's face. "With all the civilians Ocato has going on this mission, it's good to see another soldier on board."
Just as the first member of the group, the Paladin Selene, settled into a nearby chair and made herself comfortable, another man emerged through the door into the waiting room. "Wilfric Cinn Salazar, as requested..." the man hissed, though unlike Malinus, the sickly looking creature didn't even bother to meet Seraphin's gaze.
By the breath of Martin Septim, I hope Ocato isn't expecting that...thing to fight... he thought sceptically. The man looked barely hearty enough to manage the weight of his own clothing; Seraphin shuddered at the idea of having his life rest in the man's hands.
"Ah yes, Mister Salazar..." Seraphin muttered without enthusiasm, checking his list. A merchant? Honestly, I don't know what the Council is doing sometimes... "You can sit down somewhere, if you like. We won't be getting started for a while yet, I imagine."
_____________
Finding herself as easily bored as ever, Selene picked herself up from her remarkably plain looking wooden chair, and with a slight sigh, made her way over to the refreshments table. She didn't really pay much mind to the other two members of the group who'd shown up, other than the woefully ill-equipped nature of the second man who'd entered.
Boy, this mission must be even easier than they let me believe, with somebody like that tagging along! she thought amusedly to herself. Not that she was casting judgement, of course; she'd just been curious how competent the rest of her order really believed she was, sending her on the Council's mission of relative non-importance.
Oh well, she thought with a notable lack of bitterness. She supposed it made sense to send her: after all, if she were any lower in rank, they wouldn't have sent her on a mission of her own to begin with. So, without really showing either of her new allies much attention for the time being, she distractedly mulled over a selection of dry looking pastries, set out on the table before her.

There was a single word Almar could have used to describe the Imperial City: Walls. The entire city was ringed by a high wall, just above the water. The city itself was sectioned by more walls, just as high. Within each section homes and stores formed an oppressive maze of walls leading to walls. Walls that blocked his vision and were too smooth and steep to climb.
And it smelled foul, as well. Admittedly, not as foul as Almar had expected. In such a crowded enclosed environment, he had expected piles of refuse to be filling the streets. The people here must have some way to dispose of their waste.
Here he was. Lost, in a city of walls and thick, foul smells. It had already been several hours since the Bosmer entered the large city for the first time. Several hours he spent hopelessly trying to navigate the endless, identical walls. Even using the single immense tower as a beacon, he never seemed to find himself any closer to the tower's base.
Finally he found the large gate which led him to the base of the tower, just as a few stray drops of rain fell from the sky. The feeling of water striking his face brought the archer his first smile since entering the city of walls. Rain before a quest was a good omen.
Crossing the courtyard, he found a group of humans encased in armor identical to the many Legionnaires he met in Valenwood. He approached the group, recalling what he was told to say before he arrived in the city. "My name is Almar. I am here at the request of..." he trailed of, as he attempted to recall the name he had been told. "...Ocata." Yes, that sounded right.
One of the soldiers snorted, and Almar's smile fell into an unamused sneer. What did he find so funny? The archer almost growled out a threat to the rude human, but bit his tongue at the last moment. He was here as an emissary, to help with the perceived threat of a god slayer. He could already hear his clan's patron scolding him for forgetting that. No, Eradra would not have sent him in the first place if he didn't think he was capable. He would hold his tongue, like a human, just as long as was necessary.
The encounter itself lasted only a few moments, and in seconds Almar was being led inside the tower, and quietly deposited into a room, filled with an odd assortment of humans. The small group was surprisingly diverse, which led Almar to wonder. Exactly which of these humans was Ocata? Almar thought to ask, but stopped himself, as he examined the group of humans. Two spoke amongst themselves, others stood around or picked at the table of foods. They were waiting, same as he was. And he would continue to wait, at least until he knew what importance these others would be to him.

OOC: Battlemage armor? He's wearing leathers, and they are concealed beneath his robes. Hardly tin can. "Roberto Malinus, retired Battlemage of the 250th Division stationed in Arenthia, Valenwood, reporting for duty, sir!" Seraphin offered a slight nod of respect to the elderly Breton, the lips of the Imperial's fair, pale features curving upwards in a nigh imperceptible smile of approval. "With all the civilians Ocato has going on this mission, it's good to see another soldier on board." "And good to be back. My heart belongs in the legion, sir." Malinus replied, pleased with the Force Commander's response. Legion special forces... this is either really important, or a matter they wish to cover up. The salute ended crisply and with an amiable smile towards the Force Commander, before the old man left and went straight for the refreshments table. His dulled eyes only briefly paid the newcomers attention, although he didn't like his first impression of the man who followed after him. Not the kind of man I would allow near my daughter, or granddaughters, he mused, picking up a crusty pastry and biting into it before setting it on the plate. Dry, but meant to be. Some of this stuff looks like it could have been made better though; either the palace chef is horrid or this is not his work. Regardless, the aged mage grabbed some spiced crab cakes, more pastries, and some pudding from the table, taking a glass of wine with him before sitting down in a chair directly across from the matte black woman. It was the first time he got a good look at her. She was tall and slender, built for battle and not for births. Something about her when she sat down and tended to her refreshments suggested she was worry-free about this mission; just about the only quality Malinus liked in her so far, but only to an extent. She could be carefree to a fault, where it would no longer be beneficial. Malinus left his examinations at that, a quick looking over, and tended to his own food and drink, watching as a new person entered. A Bosmer... Native to Valenwood, even. The bow of bone the small elf carried gave him away, and caught Malinus' interest. Ocato is recruiting all types. Hopefully no Khajiit.

Aron walked towards the tower. It had been quite a while since he'd been in the city, and he'd end up looking like a moon struck idiot should he stop and look around. Things just looked magnificent here. All these walls probably had a practical reason too, with a lot of gates and walls. All this to keep his mind of what he was going to do. He'd been approached by a runner not far from camp up north, and just like that he'd left for the White Gold Tower and Chancellor Ocato. Even though he did not like the man, this could become something quite different from what he was used to. And change was always good.
Aron's steps were light and quick; his heavy armour was packed away at his inn, and of his usual effects, only a sword accompanied him to this meeting. Mostly just for show, but who knew what Ocato had brewed up for them.
He quickly found one of the guards outside the palace and was soon on his way inside the tower itself. The guard motioned to a door and Aron quickly stepped through. Inside were a collection of various people in fancy clothes, probably others there with the same intention as him.
"'lo, there. I'm Aron, of the guard." he said, thinking that'd do for now. You never knew who of these suspicious individuals were thinking about stealing your pouch.
OOC: Look at the short post, oh man, I didn't know it was possible to write UNDER a page just to introduce your character.

The White-Gold tower, loomed over head as an icy blue set of eyes scanned the area for danger. After all, just being simply released from one of the highest security wards in the imperial prison, usually mean there was someone waiting behind a corner, or concealed in plain sight, ready to slit the Imperial woman's throat.
But this only made Nina's smile broaden as she walked between people towards the massive gates leading to her destination. Before she was able to enter though one of the guards halted her advance. "Who are you, and what business do you have here?" he asked, eyebrow raised, as if the man disapproved of how the woman appeared.
Nina rolled her eyes and held up the letter bearing the council seal, not saying a word since the stupidity of the guard not noticing who she was, didn't deserve even a vowel to come out from between her lips. Why am i needed here? this hardly seems to be worthy of my skills.. The Imperial thought to herself as the Guard looked up and nodded at the other to open the door.
With that two other guards escorted Nina inside towards a room where others had already gathered, and already the Assassin was summing up the opposition should this be a trap to try and end the woman's life. But it seemed however, that the guards were more concerned that Nina would target the Chancellor himself, and so stayed at her side.
"As a safety precaution for the members of the council, we were instructed to remove any weapons that are on you Miss Othelu" The guard to her right said and Nina glared at the man for using a title as well as her last name.
The imperial scoffed at the order given. "If i was here to assassinate your pathetic excuse for a ruler, he would have been dead when Dagon was destroying the temple grounds, and not in a high threat area." Nina said as she unlatched the straps holding her daggers and placed them over the guards arms.
"Anything else?" The guard asked obviously unconvinced that all the weapons were removed. A belt's worth of throwing daggers, a pouch of poisons, gauntlets with hidden blades, and a hidden dagger in the sole of a boot later, The guard looked at the weapons then at the small woman and walked towards the Commander to announce her presence.

Seraphin noted the two newcomers as they entered the room: an oddly silent Bosmer, surprisingly well toned, considering his Elfin heritage, and one Aron Koldbrann, supposedly another Legionnaire, though seemingly somewhat lacking in discipline for the Commander's tastes. He looked down at his list and mentally crossed off both Almar and Aron; though the Wood Elf had yet to say anything, his physical appearance matched the man's dossier well enough.
Hope that one behaves himself, Seraphin thought silently to himself. At least amidst the collection of freelancers and civilians, there were a few other Legionnaires going on the mission.
"Commander?" Seraphin turned to face one of his men, approaching him with a handful of confiscated weapons. "I thought you should know, sir...one Nina Othelu is here."
"The assassin..." Seraphin muttered under his breath. Good grief, a known Daedra worshipper and assassin. He'd have to keep a particularly keen eye on that one. "Store Miss Othelu's weapons in a secure location," he told the trooper, gesturing further into the tower. "See she doesn't get them back until the assignment is underway."
"Yessir!" the guard barked back obediently, before moving off to follow the Commander's order. Seraphin had to work to avoid letting out an audible sigh; something told him his mission with the adventurers wouldn't be so easy.
"The three of you may make yourselves comfortable," he announced to the newcomers for good measure. "I'll inform you when it's time to meet with the Chancellor."

Clenching one of her selected pastries firmly in her mouth, Selene grabbed another two in her right hand before finally turning to acknowledge some of her fellow team members around her. Several more had arrived in short order, including a Bosmer, a man with an eye patch, clad in heavy steel plate, and a woman with an interesting looking tattoo (or was it a birthmark?) over her eye.
In a display that would have surely had her superiors muttering under their breaths, Selene, confectionary still clenched in her mouth, made her way casually over to the darkly dressed woman still standing near the entrance of the room.
"Glad to see they invited another woman to tag along," Selene remarked idly, her words coming out slightly muffled as a result of the food in her mouth. She offered her free hand towards the dark haired Imperial, her own bright blue eyes regarding her with a friendly demeanour.
"Selene Artemis," she introduced simply. "Nice to meet you."

OOC: Ah, sorry. used to seeing Battlemages in actual armor... Been playing Oblivion too much, where they truly gleam with the stuff. XD
Wilfric meanwhile had managed to gain a place at the corner of one of the refreshment table, facing down an array of wines, cheeses, and fruits. Though he preferred the tastes of particularly well cooked meats, this was about as good as he was going to get when it came to the foods offered to these adventurers, and he certainly didn't want to go over to the sweets part of the table. The thought of all that sugar running through his veins repulsed him, though the black-armored woman apparently quite enjoyed her pastries...
As he was picking through the fruits to set a few on a small plate for consumption, other started to arrive, drawing Wilfric's gaze. First came a Bosmer, though he apparently wasn't one of those that enjoyed his armor like the other upstanding warriors in the room. Maybe this wouldn't be as much of a tin can brigade as he had thought.
That thought was promptly dispelled as another knightly-looking type strode through the door, his steps quick and light. Though he wasn't wearing any armor right now, he was certain that he would be decked out in a steel suit by the time they left. That suspicion only gained more likelihood when he introduced himself as being 'of the guard'. If he meant the Legion, he would be rattling and clanking endlessly...
Wilfric groaned audibly as he raised a bit of cheese to his lips, taking a half-hearted bite of the creamy white food. It was very smooth and very tart, just the way he liked his cheese, but it did little to raise his spirits. Was there no one that would break the balance of knights and do-gooders, off to save the world?
"The assassin..."
Those words caught Wilfric's attention, his gaze quickly swiveling back. There stood a guardsman, with his arms full of weapons, some of which appeared to have been made for concealment in bits of armor. Perfect assassin's tools. There was an assassin among them?
"Store Miss Othelu's weapons..." The red-armored man began, though Wilfric drowned out all of his words after he spoke the name of the assassin, quickly picking out whom he meant. Besides the armored girl - who was certainly no assassin, he could tell that just by the appearance of her - there was only one other female, darkly clad and sticking to the shadows. She couldn't be more conspicuous in this group if she had tried...
But at least it brightened Wilfric's mood considerably. Ahhh, someone that wasn't just going to be in this for fame and glory. Someone who wouldn't have all those pesky views on honor and sacrifice, that would actually be able to get things done. At last.
He began to rise and greet the girl, eager to speak to the one person in the room that was actually going to be worth something, but he was cut off by the black-armored woman, who rose from her sweets with pastries crammed into one hand. With a mix of horror and revulsion, Wilfric watched the woman traipse over to the assassin and cheerfully mumble around her food, though he was too far away to make out what she was saying. Ugh... What an uncultured brute of a woman. Speaking with her mouth full and her hands full of confectioneries...
Settling back into his chair, Wilfric resumed nibbling on his cheese, though his eyes didn't leave the assassin. This would be interesting...

OOC: I had a feeling this RP would start on the day I couldn't get on here!
IC: Raydus headed straight for the White Gold Tower that dominated the skyline. He walked quickly, he had nowhere else to be and hated being late. He approached the entrance to the tower to find two guards standing either side of a large gate.
Without saying a word, he held up his letter from Chancellor Ocato and showed it to the guard on the right. Raydus stared into the eyes of the guard while he read the letter, which seemed to make him nervous. He didn't read the rest of the letter, but quickly lead Raydus down a long corridor to a hall at the end and the scurried off.
Raydus quickly examined his surroundings. There was a table of resfreshments in the centre of the room with various pastries and cheeses and some wine. He also noticed a rather unusual mix of people around the room, but didn't bother wasting time taking any notice of them, he had come here to find Ocato, not to socialise. However, Raydus found himself gazing at a paladin stood near the entrance. She seemed to be relaxed, eating pastries and talking to a dark-haired woman dessed in black. Raydus looked the paladin up and down before forcing his eyes to dart away.
Raydus realised he didn't know what Ocato looked like, so decided there was no harm in asking the paladin, she seemed friendly enough. He walked over and simply asked, "Where can I find Chancellor Ocato?", not wasting his breath on unnecessary words.

"Nice to meet you." Nina glanced around the room at the other members of the team. Most seemed to be goody goody types from guardsmen, to paladins and battlemages. But one imperial threw off a little. He looked like a noble, but there was something about him she couldn't put her finger on. It seemed he was going to stand up when a woman in black armour who seemed to have a sweet tooth with all the pastries in her hand, had already started walking towards Nina. Sighing mentally knowing that as they were the only two women in the group so far, she would be instantly wanting to be her friend. And Nina never had a friend in her life and wasn't going to start today. The woman introduced herself in a cheerful manner and extended her hand in greeting. But Nina didn't see this as she spoke. "You left yourself quite a few openings there" Nina noted looking Selene up and down. "Your posture is relaxed, and you have quite a bit of food in your mouth. And i won't even go into how you are acting very friendly to one who has killed many of your fellow soldiers in cold blood." As she was talking she quickly moved her left hand, swiping one of the sweets right out of the paladin's hand, before taking a bite. "In short don't reveal your weak spots to a complete stranger. Who knows they might only be this close to you so they can end your life" The assassin concluded, not even bothering to shake the woman's hand. But she did admit the woman was attractive, causing a little smirk to grow. I could definitely show her a few little tricks she thought to herself. "I'm Nina Othelu by the way. Hand of Mephala" she spoke after a while, wondering if the woman would change her attitude after the way Nina spoke to her. Not that it bothered her wither way. After all she wasn't exactly the friendly social type.

Selene rapidly blinked several times, staring back at this Nina character with a combination of surprise and outright confusion. Talk about hostile... she thought silently to herself. I wonder why she's in such a bad mood?
Gingerly fishing the pastry out of her mouth with her hand, Selene regarded her fellow Imperial with a mildly sceptical look, though her expression was a far cry from being considered 'offended.' "Well, Nina," Selene began, her tone more like that of someone giving another advice, rather than somebody who was genuinely angry. "I hope you're not planning on being this grumpy for the entire trip." She raised her index finger and wagged it in a mock-judgemental gesture, a slight grin playing across her features. "It's hardly a very good strategy for making friends, wouldn't you say?"
With that particular issue handled, Selene turned her attention to a nearby Redguard man, one who'd asked her where the Chancellor was. She offered an uncertain shrug in response. "I'm sure he's around here somewhere," she replied, gesturing vaguely around her. "Our Legion friend over there mentioned something about waiting until more of us arrived before taking us to see Ocato himself." She silently shrugged again.
"The name's Selene Artemis, by the way," she introduced cheerily, nodding at the obviously battle savvy Redguard. "Nice to meet you!" She gestured back at the dark haired Imperial woman. "Oh, and that's Nina Othelu," she added. "I think she's in kind of a bad mood, though."

"Seems more of our guests have arrived."
Seraphin glanced back at the Chancellor's aide, the young Breton's innocent looking smile framed on either side by a series of loose brown curls. Seraphin himself huffed audibly, unimpressed. "So far, only two Legionnaires in the lot of them," he muttered under his breath, continuing to update his list. "Other than that, all we've got is a hodge podge of freelancers, merchants, savages, and religious fanatics." He glanced up at the Paladin, standing near a Redguard warrior and the Assassin. "Daedric and otherwise."
"Oh dear...you don't sound at all impressed," Claire remarked idly, though her sweet smile remained clearly visible. "I suppose that I should inform the Chancellor that the adventurers are arriving, in any event."
"You do that," Seraphin remarked dryly. As Ocato's newest addition to his personal staff made her way out of the waiting room and into the Palace proper, Seraphin had to struggle to keep his frustration in check.
How the hell does Ocato expect this lot to protect the Empire!? he nearly growled out loud.

OOC: Hey guys. This is my intro post; I'll catch up with the next one. The guards hadn't noticed the child-like, silver-clad figure glide past them in a whisper of silk. Nor did they notice her pause, skirts whisking around her legs, and press one hand against the doorway. This could be because she was currently invisible. It could also be because she was now largely hidden by the curve of the building, and it could certainly be because her feet made barely a sound. She was a whisper, a thought, a breeze. She hesitated. There was no way in without announcing herself to the guards. The White-Gold Tower was the one building she found very difficult to enter; the doors creaked and the guards were edgy. The knowledge that Passwall had been lost to the ages had saddened the woman. If she could truly have been so insubstantial, then perhaps she might have been worthy of her namesake. Her lips twisted slightly in thought, her eyelashes lowering ponderously. There seemed to be no way around this barrier but to make herself visible. Still, she was hardly late, and a little patience could hardly go amiss. She never once subsided into thoughts. When visible, then was the time to dream. But now was the time for alertness; a true sneak never let their guard down. She didn't have to wait long for a thin man to climb the steps. He seemed well-dressed but somehow oily. His movements were slick and oozing, as if at any moment he would throw himself onto the ground and slither on his belly. He had a rather ratty face, a look added to by the disdainful curl of his lip. "Wilfric Cynn Salazar, here at the command of Chancellor Ocato." He looked up at them with a loathing expression Ephemera found quite curious. "Come come, do hurry," he patronised them, hand on hip and toe acting as metronome to his impatience. " I assure you, I can think of MANY things I would be rather doing than standing here in front of you lot." How very odd. Her eyelashes lowered again. He really believed they wouldn't harm him. A stupid man, she considered. There were always ways of getting rid of abnoxious rich people. However, an opportunity had indeed presented itself, and following the mumbling guard and the strutting snake, she slipped inside.
